Aid after severe floods in Bosnia and Serbia
Posted on |The rainfalls within the region are the worst in 120 years. Large areas have been completely flooded, many towns and villages have been completely cut off from the rest of the world. Thousands of people had to be evacuated, others did not make it in time and can now no longer leave their houses. Without clean drinking water or electricity, they are waiting for help. The governments of both countries have declared a state of emergency for several affected regions.
Through SAMARITAN INTERNATIONAL, ASB closely cooperates with IDC, our Samaritan organisation in Serbia and with the Bosnian Samaritans of Žene sa Une. “The distribution of aid materials can only be done via boat or air at the moment”, says Ivan Marin, Head of the ASB country office in Serbia. Together with his colleagues, he is currently working on getting an overview of the situation and to prepare further aid measures. The ASB country office’s team is also active in Bosnia, where it prepares the distribution of aid materials and other measures. As soon as the water has withdrawn, ASB will also support the affected people in their rebuilding efforts.
ASB asks for donations to support their efforts. Find more information here.
