“When Numbers Become Faces” – SAM.I. expresses solidarity with refugees and volunteers all over Europe
Posted on |Today, on 26 February 2016, SAMARITAN INTERNATIONAL (SAM.I.) is launching a social media photo series as part of its motto year “When Numbers Become Faces”. Under this slogan, SAM.I. has dedicated the year 2016 to the topic of refugee aid.
The motto year will show the people behind the well-known statistics that dominate the media coverage of the refugee crisis. After all, behind every number there is a face, a personal story or fate, and the hope for a better life.
After launching the motto year with short films from the SAM.I. organisations’ refugee aid activities, the photo series will showcase additional “faces behind the numbers”. Each picture of a refugee or a volunteer will be accompanied by a quote of the pictured person, which introduces the reader to their personal story. Several Samaritan organisations have joined to share these stories in this way.
Over the course of 2016, the European Samaritans will continue to raise awareness for the fate of people who had to flee their homes and for the people who volunteer their time to help them. In addition, they pursue the practical improvement of cross-border refugee aid and advocate for a European political solution to create a framework for effective, humane aid and integration measures for refugees.
