ASB and SFOP expand commitment for victims of National Socialism

ASB Germany and the Polish Samaritan organization SFOP have jointly launched a project to improve the lives of surviving victims of National Socialism. Start of the three-year project is September 2013, the project is financed by the foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future”.

Also in Poland young people and volunteers should be made aware of the situation of former Nazi victims. The ASB uses experiences of a similar project in Charkiv, Ukraine. SSU

Today, more than 450,000 former victims of the Nazi regime live in Poland according to estimates of the foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future”. They still suffer from their traumatic experiences they have made as internees, deportees or forced labourers during the Second World War. Now elderly, these people are often isolated and need support to live a decent life.

Among other objectives, the project aims to improve the social participation of 500 surviving victims in the Lesser Poland region as well as the work with young people to enable them to deepen their understanding of the Nazi period.
