International intern project Mob–Lab concludes
Posted on |The last group of interns of the Mob-Lab project will finish their internships at the SAM.I. General Secretariat and ASB Germany’s foreign aid department tomorrow. SAM.I. and ASB hosted a total of six interns (two at a time), between June and October of this year.
Their internships lasted one month for each group, who stayed in Cologne in June, September and October, respectively. As the project reaches its end, the interns and the host organisations draw a very positive conclusion.
The MOB-LAB project is organized by ANPAS Tuscany in collaboration with ASB Germany and SAM.I.. The project is financed through a grant by the Tuscany Region with funds from the European Social Fund. Other groups of Italian interns were sent to Spain and Belgium.
Through this European Mobility project, the interns had the opportunity to gain work experience in the social sector and, by living there for one month, get to know every-day life in another European country. They performed tasks in communication, in order to develop and transmit the values of the non-profit sector and they also learned how to draft and manage projects.
During their time in SAM.I. and ASB, the interns were involved in different activities such as getting an overview on the different departments´ activities, learning the working methodology of their respective offices, preparing content (on different activities organised by the organisations) for the web and articles to be published in SAM.I.’s print newsletter SAMARITAN direct.
The experience was found to be positive for both host offices as well as the interns:
“It was a great experience that I will recall in an extremely positive light, owing in part to the support given to me by my tutor during my apprenticeship”, said Raissa (intern at the SAM.I. GS, a student in political science at the University of Florence, Italy, and active volunteer in first aid at ANPAS) – “When I go back home I will be richer than when I started this experience”.
“This internship abroad was a very good opportunity because it gave me the possibility to work on new things with colleagues from another European Country. It was very positive in every aspect so I strongly suggest to young people to have these kinds of experiences abroad. You can only learn and improve your working skills”, commented Erald (intern at the SAM.I. GS, graduate in Political Science and Decision Making at the University of Florence, Italy).
Elisa (intern at ASB Foreign Aid Department, student in Linguistic Mediation at the Università per Stranieri di Siena, Italy, and volunteer in Pubblica Assistenza Montagnola Senese association) added: “The Mob-lab project has been very useful for me. I improved my language skills and, thanks also to my colleagues, I discovered the “Samaritan association’s world”. I suggest this internship abroad to everyone”!
