A single programme for education, training, youth and sports. Erasmus Plus finances youth exchanges, youth workers and volunteers.
General objectives
Erasmus+ replaces seven programmes bringing together:

Five international cooperation programmes
Erasmus+ aims at boosting skills and employability. The objective of the Programme is to increase the quality and relevance of Europe’s education systems by providing funding for the professional development of education and training staff, as well as youth workers and for cooperation between universities, schools, enterprises, and not-profit organizations. The programme covers the following areas:
Education and training at all levels: in the perspective of lifelong learning, including school education (Comenius), higher education (Erasmus), the international higher education (Erasmus Mundus), education and vocational training (Leonardo da Vinci) and adult learning (Grundtvig);
Youth: in particular in the context of non-formal and informal learning;
Sports: in particular that practiced amateur. Support to capacity building of sport organisations; support to non-commercial European sport events involving several European countries;
Specific objectives
- Help young people to acquire additional skills through study and training abroad.
- Raise the quality of teaching in Europe and beyond.
- Support Member States and partner countries in the modernization of education systems and vocational training.
- Promote the participation of young people in society.
- Support the teaching and research on European.
- Support popular sports.
Why is important for Samaritan organizations?
The Erasmus Plus programme is very important for european Samaritan Organizations because it aims to strengthen the training of people, in particular young people. It promotes the exchange between volunteers with the aim of creating an united and cohesive Europe.
The new programme offers opportunities to study, to train, to teach and gain experience abroad. it implements cooperation activities between institutions of education and training across Europe and it increases collaboration between the world of work and education.
Structure of the Programme
The Programme focuses on three types of key actions:
Key action 1: Learning mobility of individuals. Transnational and international learning mobility of students, young people, teachers and staff;
Key action 2: Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices. Cooperation for innovation and good practices between education institutions and bodies active in the youth field, and the support to the policy agendas;
Key action 3: Support for policy reform. It Supports the capacity building in third countries, including enlargement countries, with a particular focus on neighbouring countries and the international policy dialogue.
Application and consultancy
The actions of the Erasmus + programme are divided into decentralised actions and centralised actions. The centralised actions are managed at a European level by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency(EACEA) located in Brussels. For the centralized action the organizations should use the European Commission Authentication Service (ECAS). The decentralised actions are managed in each country by National Agencies.
